Typography Hierarchy

Assignment: Choose a single typeface and create 8 thumbnail sketches and one 11x17 (landscape) poster using self-authored research. The poster must include the name of the typeface, year the typeface was designed, name of the designer, full alphabet, all numbers, history of the creation of the typeface, and the biography of the designer.

Utilize principles of typographic hierarch when setting your type, and incorporate letterforms as imagery in the poster. The poster may only utilize your chosen font, regardless of how legible or illegible it becomes.

Typeface selected: Memoriam (2008, Patrick Griffin, Canada Type)

Programs used: Adobe Illustrator

Note: Due to my comfort level with Adobe Illustrator, it was easier for me to create shapes and text blocks and manipulate them within the program to create 8 full images and then select one to call my final product, as opposed to hand-sketching 8 thumbnails. This was approved by the instructor. Below is a selection, beginning with my final piece.
